Website Accessibility

Website accessibility is now a legal requirement.

Whilst it is fair to say that there have not been many (or any...?) legal prosecutions of websites which are not accessible, we suspect that it may be just a matter of time before the law is properly implemented and websites are obliged to become accessible to people who are partially sighted or have some other form of physical disability.

We recommend that all our clients' sites conform as a minimum to W3C standards - and whilst there are a number of different standards we recommend XHTML 1.0 transitional. These standards are primarily offered as a means of web designers generating a high quality clean code - the almost accidental bi-product is that the site is much more easily used by people with disabilities.

We have additional guidelines regarding ensuring compliance with the UK's Disability Discrimination Act requirements and W3C guides to website accessibility and can make these available to interested parties and our clients on request.
